AGM 2011 report
posted: December 2, 2011

Tim Sturm & Paul Bowstead
Following last night's AGM at North Middlesex CC, Tim Sturm writes:

The AGM took place last night over several (ie: far too many) beers.

Bucket of Justice

I was elected captain and Paul Bowstead elected as vice captain. On behalf of the team I'd like to say thank you to outgoing captain Spencer for a job well done this season and also on being voted as Stroller of the Year! Well deserved on an amazing season with both bat and ball.

For myself, it's an honour and a privilege to represent the Strollers as captain and I'll want to make sure that next season is fun and fair and that we win as many games as possible. One thing I would like to see is that we lift the intensity of our game, both in the field and with the urgency of our batting. Anyway more on that next year...

Awards

Four awards were given out:

Newcomer of the Year: Andrew Bates
Batter of the Year: Gavin Richardson
Bowler of the Year: Rob Davies
Stroller of the Year: Spencer Fowler

Well done all of you on some brilliant performances throughout the year.

Admin

Gav took the minutes and I can report as follows.

i. Andy Moorhouse wanted it minuted that he strongly objected to the notion of taking minutes.

Finances

i. From next season, a minimum £10 match fee will be charged for every game with the surplus to cover any outstanding expenses (eg: website/ match balls/ equipment)

ii. Paul Bowstead to look into the possibility of opening a team bank account [actually, the responsibility for this task wasn't allocated during the AGM, but ... welcome to the vice skipper role Paul!]

iii. £5 extra is to be collected from every tourist to Malta to cover the deficit

iv. Rob Davies, Matt Morgan and Johny Kemp each offered to pay in advance for a net session at Lord's (dates tbc) in addition to the sessions already booked by Tim Sturm — money to be recovered from attendees

Fixtures

[Dickie (Fixtures Secretary) was absent, so these are all just requests at this stage!]

i. More 'time' based games to be played in favour of limited overs matches (at captain's discretion)

ii. Request from Graeme Holmes and Tim Sturm not to play The Village as the opening match of the season (!)

iii. Request from Gavin Richardson and Matt Morgan for the Chippenham fixture to revert to Saturdays if possible.

iv. Request from Gavin Richardson for two fixtures to be arranged against the Bricklayers Arms.

v. Request from Rob Davies for a two day 'test match'.

vi. Request for new fixtures to be arranged against Exiles CC (home only), Washington CC and VCC (ask Johnny Kemp).

vii. Request from Graeme Holmes for as many "home" games as poss to be at North Middx.

viii. Possible pre season return to Porto tour (may have been mooted at the Belash afterwards!)

Website

i. Request from Graeme Holmes and George Brown for creation of a "Hall Of Fame" in the averages so we can out some of the deadwood/ cr#p… ie- imposing an eight year embargo/ cull on "lost" players or somesuch.

ii. Request from Graeme Holmes for rolling averages to be updated per game (via the new spreadsheet devised by Tim).

Acknowledgements

Finally, I would like to acknowledge the work done by Gav as webmaster, Dickie as Fixtures Secretary, and Deavs as tour organiser. There's a lot of work goes into admin behind the scenes (as I've found out myself first hand this season!), and we should give credit to these guys who keep things ticking along.
