Strollers start the 2021 season in winning style
posted: April 26, 2021

After all the misery of the long-running winter lockdown, we were all delighted to see the welcome start of the cricket season yesterday with blue skies overhead and gladly, unlike last season, with no delay. The only evidence of any COVID-related intervention was the sad absence of teas (which may account for the absence of certain Strollers from our starting lineup –  Ed). Thankfully we got the 2021 campaign off to a winning start with a well-fought victory over Agricola CC from West London.

Batting first on the main square at North London CC, our card boasted contributions all the way down, with a bang-in-form George top scoring with 42 as we made our way to posting a respectable 208. Agricola responded gamely, with their own Browne (with added 'e') hitting a well-struck 57 but a concerted bowling attack led by Varun – who claimed an excellent threefer  –  meant we were able to restrict the oppo to 176, 32 runs adrift of their target.

An excellent effort by all concerned then, and we look forward to next weekend's clash against old foes the Bohos with much relish!
