The Groundhog Day Chippenham template of recent years was followed almost to the letter with the home side batting on a dour, loamy, low bouncing, bowler fatiguing pitch and racking up the usual 262 for 3 declared.
After an absolutely splendid tea Strollers whimpered through to the usual mildly dishonourable draw ending 190-7. But the template was given a right old twist by Spencer who once again batted out a magnificent captain's innings and racked up his first ever century (not counting Subbuteo Cricket). Huge congratulations to Spencer who is enjoying a truly remarkable season with the bat so far. A special mention also goes to super sopper Simon Boughey who, sporting a ludicrous 1930s "cad moustache" absorbed everything Chippenham could throw at him for several overs at the end of the game to earn the draw and thoroughly annoy the opposition.
