Back to the bad old days against the Old Fallopians

It was back to the bad old days as the Strollers went down to the Old Fallopians on Sunday. After a good opening stand by the Fallopians, who won the toss and elected to bat, the Strollers hauled things back with three quick wickets. However Khalil and Atiq then combined to blast away for a 100+ stand, which broke the camel's back as far as the Strollers were concerned. The Strollers weren't helped by a number of misfields and one or two costly missed catches.
Chasing 269 off 35 overs was always going to be difficult. The Fallopians' opening bowlers did their job, letting through few runs and ultimately breaking through the defences of the first three batters. The required run rate started to get very high and even the dibbly dobbly bowlers were able to pick up a haul of wickets as the Strollers batsmen attempted to hit out.
Overall not a great game for the Strollers then. On the bright side a few good catches were taken, one from Gav and one from Bowstead in particular, and it was good to see the team remaining relatively positive and energetic in the field, notwithstanding the fielding errors here and there. The bowlers toiled hard against some powerful hitting and deserved the breakthroughs when they came. Otherwise, on to the Beamers next Sunday...
