Pimlico Strollers CC vs Bricklayers Arms CC

Bricklayers demolished by stunning Strollers
posted: June 7, 2015

It was carnage at Ferme Park this afternoon as the Strollers continued the winning start to the 2015 season with a thumping 10 wicket victory over the Bricklayers Arms.

Ignoring the bemused head shaking of his team mates, skipper Couldrey clearly saw something afoot in the pitch and opted to put the oppo in on a hot sunny day which one would assume were perfect conditions for batting. But the Bricklayers failed to make any impact with the bat and with Paul Bowstead setting the tone with an astonishing run out — aimed at just one stump — dismissing their opener Blunn, there then followed a rout. Despite a sixth wicket stand that offered some token resistance, wickets were shared with regularity around the attack, Spencer notably claiming 3-6, and the Bricklayers were skittled for a paltry 77.

In response, the Strollers batsmen showed no such frailty. Having survived an early shout for LBW Gav took command, carrying his bat with a lustily struck 41. This was well supported by George who chipped in with an unbeaten 28 before the skip retired him to have a quick bat himself, nabbing the winning runs with a cheeky call for a single (that wasn't really there — Ed) in just the twelfth over before joining his team mates at the bar to celebrate a stunningly straightforward win.
