Shiels shelled thrice as Bricklayers lay waste to Strollers
posted: June 2, 2013
A frustrating day at the office for the Strollers today who, having posted a commendable 241-9 from their 35 overs against the Bricklayers Arms, failed to defend the total. This sadly was entirely attributable to a lacklustre display in the field, with no fewer than three catches shelled from the Bricklayers' key dangerman Fred Shiels who, in typical fashion, smashed an unbeaten 128 to carry his bat and see his side over the line with more than three overs to spare.
After another fine knock earlier in the day from Spencer (77), a stylish début from James Booth (45) and some late order fireworks from Paul (29) it was very disappointing to see the good work undone by some decidedly sloppy fielding... hopefully this will not become a habit.
