The Strollers picked up another memorable away win this afternoon in the local clash with Stumps who, having won the toss and chosen to bat, ran into instant trouble as Graeme and Spencer claimed a trio of early wickets before the total had reached double figures. A resiliant fourth wicket stand was eventually undone by a superb spell from Harry Brown who took the prize wicket of Saurabh (56) with a beautifully disguised yorker. From then on, a sterling all round effort in the field - including several excellent catches - restricted Stumps to a modest 179 all out.
In response, the Strollers upper order made a textbook effort of keeping to the required run rate with Spencer in particular on top form. Magnificently supported by George (22) and Tim (32), Spencer notched up another half ton and within sight of the target before eventually falling to a well flighted ball from Ubaid. Despite a couple of wobbles in the middle order, the result was never in serious doubt and Paul and Graeme saw us home with 5 over sto spare. Elementary, dear Strollers!
