Village triumphant in season opener

The season curtain raiser at Ferme Park today saw the Strollers thrust straight into a local derby against The Village. Despite a sensational start - which saw the Villagers rocked back on their heels at 7-2 - some loose subsequent bowling allowed the opposition to pile on the runs (with Morgans hitting a century) and post a formidable 275-5 off their 35 overs. In response however some fireworks from Harsh (83), ably supported by Matt (31), meant that for a time the Strollers were on the required rate of 8 an over. However, wickets eventually tumbled and we ended up some 45 runs adrift of the target.
