Arguably the best fielder currently at the club, Paul 'the complete and utter' Bowstead made his début in 2009 with a string of uncommonly athletic performances at extra cover or midwicket before a potentially career threatening injury almost took him out of contention altogether. Making a foolhardy attempt to stop an on drive that was heading towards him like a tracer bullet Bowstead, fielding on the Ferme Park boundary, stuck out a speculative foot. The blood curdling thwack of leather on ankle joint was heard for many a mile and promptly ended his season (and chances of walking properly for a few months) there and then. Voted Newcomer Of The Year at the 2009 AGM and cocking a preverbial snook at the doctors and naysayers everywhere, the 'no-longer hobbling-he' Bowstead made his very welcome return in 2010 with fine contributions as a probing medium pace bowler and handy lower middle order batsman with the promise of even greater things to come.
