Harper made a resounding debut at the Indoor School at Lord's in February 2004, impressing with his array of strokeplay and bowling which drifted consistently to the off-side. Also made an immediate impression by sinking a beer and smoking fags in the bar afterwards.

Remains to be seen what he can do in the middle, under pressure, when it really counts, and may yet prove to be not quite down to the Strollers' level. But has immediately lowered the average age of the squad by two years.
