Fund a net session!
posted: November 1, 2011

MCC Indoor School
We are already looking forward to the 2012 season and, as is cutomary, we are planning a series of indoor net sessions over the winter at the MCC Indoor School at Lord's. Tim is organising these sessions and makes the following plea to help with expenses:

Normally the bookings for net sessions at Lords in early 2012 would take place after the AGM, however sessions are booking up early this year - possibly due to the nets closing for refurbishment over November and December - so we need to book now if we want to ensure we can get some pre-season nets in.

Unfortunately that means the bookings also have to be paid in advance. The bookings are £45 per net, but since most times we have enough people keen for two nets, it means £90 per net session. Last year we had 10 net sessions between January and April which if we were to repeat this year would require £900 of advance funding.

So, I'm looking for volunteers. Who wants to help put up some cash in advance to fund a net session at £90 per session (or two, or three...)?

I'm happy to underwrite up to 5 two-net sessions for the purposes of this fund-raising, but if we want to guarantee bookings for any more than this we will need others to put some money up. You will of course get your money back - either from those attending the session or through cancellation of the booking 7 days in advance if we don't have enough takers - and all of the admin and record-keeping will be completed by me or whoever is in charge of admin after the AGM, so if you want to help out all you have to do is send some money.

Any offers gratefully received. You can even have a net session named in your honour if you like, or in the name of one of your cricketing heroes (e.g. "the Steve Waugh net session of 1 April 2012"), or you can remain anonymous, whatever turns you on.

Thanks in advance and stroll on!
